Who We Are
At Little Oaks HLC, we believe that kids are capable of so much more than they are given credit for. Learning starts the day we are born, so why do we underestimate kids? Children are constantly learning! From the world around them, from different experiences, interactions, and even from play! Our students do not just learn things through teachers teaching, but also through hands-on activities that enrich their education. Here, we allow kids to learn and grow through their experiences, nature, and guided lessons rooted from their interests.
Our Mission
Our focus is independence and leadership! We teach each child what it means to be an independent, tiny, human. While this may mean it takes more time to get things done throughout the day, it is worth it to see our students begin to figure out their way around their world! We are always there to help, but we encourage each child to try first, ask a friend, then ask a teacher. In doing this, students have to rely on themselves and their peers before getting an adult’s help, giving them the chance to use their problem-solving and communication skills!
Our Philosophy
We were inspired by a few different teaching philosophies. Our philosophy is based on that of Montessori, Reggio, and Waldorf teachings. We are also a nature-based center, so we spend a lot of our time learning outside! We aim to provide a safe, clean, uncluttered environment for all of our students to make it possible to develop a love of learning and to make sure our families are comfortable! To help ease into this transition, we keep in contact with our families and upload pictures throughout the day on Brightwheel!
